After hours appointments are available for clients by negotiation with individual therapists.

Individual Counselling
Fees are subject to variation depending on the Psychologist you are seeing. The Australian Psychological Society recommended hourly fee as of June 2020 is $254 per 45- 60 minute session. Our standard fees are $180 per consultation hour. You are eligible to claim a proportion of your fees from Medicare if you have Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare will reimburse up to $87.45 per session for 10 sessions per calendar year.

Couple Counselling
For couple counselling a 2 hour session is $450 ($225 per person), depending on your eligibility you may be able to claim part of this from your Private Health Fund. You are also eligible to claim a proportion of your fees from Medicare if you have Mental Health Care Plan. Medicare will reimburse up to $87.45 for each person, at every session. You may also choose to have a 1 hour couples counselling session at $225 (112.50 per person). This can also be claimed through Medicare.

Mental Health Care Scheme
A Mental Health Care Referral from your General Practitioner to a Psychologist is required in order to receive a rebate per session from Medicare Australia. An individual can have 10 individual counselling sessions and 10 group sessions per calendar year.

Private Billing
Clients will be privately billed if they do not wish to obtain or are not entitled to a Mental Health Care referral from their General Practitioner. They will not receive rebates from Medicare Australia and will need to pay the full fee.

Private Health Fund
Clients can receive rebates for Psychological Counselling from their private health fund. Check your level of cover with your fund.

Payment Methods
Clients are expected to pay at their consultation. Cash, Eftpos,Visa or Mastercard.

HICAP facilities are available onsite for reverse claiming on the spot.

Cancellation Policy
If you need to change your appointment time please give us 24 hours’ notice.
You will be sent an SMS reminder of your scheduled appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give 24 hours’ notice prior to your booked consultation. Unfortunately missed appointments are not covered by Medicare, so without 24 hours’ notice you may be charged a cancellation fee of $50.00.

Neuropsychological Assessments
The cost of neuropsychological assessments varies depending on the reason for referral. Unfortunately, neuropsychological assessments are not covered by Medicare. Private health funds may be able to offer a small amount of rebate depending on the fund. Assessment costs may also be covered by DVA, WorkCover or other insurance companies if involved. You will be informed of the cost of the assessment once the referral reason has been determined.

 

Mental Health Emergencies

Please note that Drummoyne Counselling is NOT an acute emergency service. If you or a person you know is experienceing a mental health crisis call Emergency services on 000, or your local Mental Health Crisis Team (call 1800 011 511 within NSW) or go to your local hospital emergency department.

Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Ensuring Drummoyne Counselling is a safe and welcoming space for patients and families is a priority. In light of concerns relating to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), staff at Drummoyne Counselling are taking the following precautions to help keep everyone safe.

All patients will be screened over the phone for COVID-19. Depending on the outcome of screening, all appointments are being held as either face-to-face, Telehealth or phone consultations.
